How to manage FOXY usage with BroadWeb NetKeeper
Burlingame, Calif., October 23, 2006 - BroadWeb Corp. announced today that its NetKeeper Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) provide network management for FOXY P2P software. FOXY (http://www.gofoxy.net/tw/index.shtml) is software that allows rapid sharing and MP3 files downloading over the Internet. Foxy is also designed to search for movie files, compressed files, pictures, text files and various other types of files; FOXY is extremely easy to operate. FOXY may also help to propagate Virus and Trojans by embedding in popular files that people download.
"P2P software was designed to distribute massive files over the Internet without expensive network bandwidth", said Stephen Tseng, director of BroadWeb International sales department, "but software like Foxy distorts the original intention and in the process it abuses the network resources and may have legality issues for the files it transmits, making it necessary to manage and regulate P2P traffic."
BroadWeb BSST (BroadWeb Security Service Team) suggests that BroadWeb IPS users upgrade their signature patterns to version 3.55 or later in order to guard against the P2P usage. Please visit our BSST website (http://www.broadweb.com/english/03_support/bsst3.html) for more information.
